Clearlake, CA at a Glance
Located on the south shore of Clear
Lake, California's largest
natural water lake, the city of Clearlake is roughly a 90 minute drive northwest
of Sacramento and just over two
hours northeast of San Francisco.
Due to its prime location on the lake, Clearlake is an ideal place to stay while
enjoying the abundance of outdoor activities available in the area. The nearby
Anderson
Marsh State Historic Park draws visitors not only to its archaeological sites
that date back more than 10,000 years, but also for its great hiking, birdwatching,
swimming and picnicking opportunities. Wine enthusiasts appreciate Clearlake's
close proximity to a number of wineries,
including those found in Clearlake
Oaks and Lower
Lake. Boat tours and dinner cruises are available on the Clear
Lake Queen, which leaves from the nearby town of Lucerne.
Every July during the Independence Day weekend, Clearlake hosts the International
Worm Race, which attracts people from around the world wishing to race their
pet worms.
